B A A Outside Exhibits Information
We have such a wonderful show up in Macy’s right now, make sure to stop by if you haven’t seen it - and Macy’s loves it so much they want us back! They will be hosting us again in the lobby near the elevators (first floor, behind the China/Furniture departments). This will be a curated show. I will try to get at least one piece in from all interested members.
THEME: “Art for Kids" (children are the audience for this show theme)
TAKE-IN: Monday, July 23rd, 10am, Macy’s first-floor elevator lobby.
TAKE DOWN: Monday, Sept. 10th, 10am
COST: No cost for entry; Standard 10% BAA commission applies to sales resulting from the show. Must be a current member in good standing to enter.
RECEPTION: Saturday, July 28th from 2-4pm - with art activities for kids!
ART: Wall art only. All art must be framed (canvases with painted edges ok) and wired for hanging. No sawtooths. This is a small gallery space, so about 30” width max. No licensed characters/images unless you own the rights (i.e., no drawings of Mickey Mouse!).
“But I don’t have any paintings of kids!” you say. Artwork for Kids can include many things besides images of kids, such as:
· people (of all ages) playing sports/dancing
· sports/dance/music equipment
· bright colors (including abstracts)
· nursery pastels (including abstracts)
· anything whimsical!
TO SUBMIT: Email images of up to 8 pieces for consideration in the theme to email@example.com by midnight, Friday July 6th.
Submissions must include the following info for each piece of work:
· Artwork Size
· Final Framed Size (To the outside edges of the frame. If it’s an unframed canvas with painted edges, just put Unframed Canvas)
Images do not need to be high-resolution scans, a camera phone picture of each piece is fine. You are welcome to also include a link to your portfolio for additional work beyond the 8 attached photos.
I will respond to all submissions with “received” so that you know I received it, and then will reach out with selections a week or so after the submission deadline.
I’m very excited for this show & to see all of your work!

This very special one-day Plein Air oil painting workshop will be taught by Paris-based artist Thierry LeFort and held at a magnificent private residence in the Altadena Hills. The workshop is open to all levels and will be split into two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. There will be a French-inspired wine & cheese break between the sessions and everyone is encouraged to bring something to share. There is also a pool to cool off in, if desired!
Thierry will focus on composition, palette set-up, color mixing, how to look, how to synthesize, and knowing when to stop.
Thierry LeFort is current President of the Salon Automne in Paris He is a wonderful artist and teacher. His works have been selected by the Paris Salon d’automne and he won the French Landscape Prize at the Salon of French Artists at the Grand Palais in 2014.
